a page of its own.

Upload tracks and share one link to a waveform player with hearts and comments pinned to the moment. A new take lands at the same link.

Publish from the command line · Audio guide

Soundfish gives your album a page of its own. Share one link to a waveform player where listeners pin comments to the moments they mean. Upload a new take and the same link plays it, with earlier takes kept in order and dated.

Sketch the next idea in the MIDI editor.

The MIDI editor is a piano roll in your browser. Place notes and drum hits, hear them with General MIDI instruments, and turn loops into songs. It needs no account or install.

A loop or song link contains the whole composition. Post it, save it, or send it to an agent, and open the link the agent sends back in the editor. The editor and the soundfish CLI read and write the same document.

Interfaces

For listeners, makers, and agents

For listeners

Press play. Play any album page or loop link without an account. A free sign-in adds hearts and comments.

For makers

Start a loop. Sketch loops on a piano roll, arrange them into songs, and keep a library on this device.

For agents

Use the CLI. With the Soundfish skill and CLI, an agent can publish albums, inspect and edit loops and songs, and verify each result.

How Soundfish compares

SoundCloud is a streaming network and Bandcamp is a store. Samply and [untitled] are private workspaces for reviewing drafts, with apps and version switching. Soundfish gives one album a page and a link that anyone can open, comment on at a moment, and embed.

Questions

Common questions

Do listeners need an account?

No. Anyone can listen on the album page or in an embed. Hearts and comments need a free Hraness sign-in.

Can I share an album before it is released?

Yes. Keep the album unlisted: anyone with the link can open the page, player, comments, and embed, and it stays off the feed, your artist page, and search engines until you publish it.

What happens to comments when I upload a new take?

They stay. Each comment records the take that was current when it was written, so a note on an earlier take reads like “v1 · Sep 14”.

Can I put the player on my own site?

Yes. Copy the embed code from the album’s manage page, or run soundfish audio embed <album> --html for the snippet.

What is a Hraness account?

Hraness is the studio that makes Soundfish. A free Hraness account is your sign-in, and its username becomes your artist handle at sound.fish/@username.

What is the MIDI editor?

A piano roll in your browser for loops and songs whose whole composition lives in the link. It needs no account.

Is Soundfish like SoundCloud?

SoundCloud is a streaming network built around a feed and followers. Soundfish gives you a page and a link for sharing tracks and drafts, and a MIDI editor for the next idea. The comparison page says where each one is the better choice.

What does “music for agents” mean?

Agents can use Soundfish the way you do: the soundfish CLI publishes albums from a terminal, every album page has a Markdown version, and a MIDI loop link carries the whole composition for an agent to read and edit.
